Troy Spindler, the owner and founder of GREEN HOUSE, is a Cal Poly graduate who obtained his Contractor's License in 1978. Following his passion for creating sustainable environments and using renewable energy sources, Troy and then business partner John Ewan started Pacific Energy Company, the premier solar company in central California, in 1980. Troy has spent most of his life building and remodeling homes in Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties, using energy efficiency as a foundation. In addition to providing home performance evaluations and improvements, Troy works as a green building contractor and performs evaluations and improvements for commercial buildings.

Troy receives ongoing specialized training in the field of Home Performance Contracting and is the first person in San Luis Obispo County to be able to designate a home as ENERGY STAR compliant, to complete an Energy Upgrade California project, and to gain Building Performance Institute certification.

Troy also receives ongoing specialized training in the field of Commercial Building Performance Evaluations and Contracting from PG&E and Southern California Edison.
